You’ve finally made the decision to apply for a CrossFit affiliate, and now you’re faced with the daunting task of actually naming it. You have the perfect name in mind! You send in your application with your No. 1 name choice and start daydreaming about logos, T-shirts, signage, and how great your affiliate sticker is going to look on everyone’s water bottles. This is getting exciting! A few weeks pass and the Powers That Be contact you to let you know, “Congrats! Your application was approved!” But also, “The name you chose isn’t available.” Womp, womp, womp. Now what? Looks like it’s back to the drawing board. Ugh.

We know naming your affiliate is akin to naming your children. The names you really like are already taken, everyone has an opinion on it, and you’re completely out of ideas. I can assure you that naming your affiliate is the most difficult part of the entire affiliation process, and there are numerous affiliate owners who can back that.

The application process requires you to provide three proposed affiliate names in order of preference. We will approve the first available name on that list. If none of the proposed names are available, our onboarding team will work with you to arrive at a suitable choice.

Keep in mind that we consider several factors when approving affiliate names, including, but not limited to pending applications or names similar to an existing affiliate name.

Here are our general guidelines: We do not license names of continents, countries, provinces, regions, states, counties, large cities (population over 1 million), religious references, movie names, celebrity names, personal names, trademarked names, government agencies, names that are already taken or are deemed to be too similar to an already licensed affiliate name. As long as no one else has it or has applied for it, and it's a name we will license, you'll be good to go.
